Mount Ayr's historical Town Square

Featuring cobblestone brick streets featuring the early 1900's Courthouse, classic Carnegie Library, restored Princess Theatre, interesting antique stores, gift shops, restaurants, and taverns will take you back in time to a slower-paced era. And, don't forget to visit the 1879 restored Mount Ayr Depot Museum on North Taylor Street.

 

The Ramsey Farm at Lesanville

An historic 180 acre working farm and 1870's restored village depicting the life and culture of rural Iowa between the late 1800s and mid 1950s. Two hour walking and horse drawn wagon or buggy tours are available to non-lodging visitors from June 1 through September 15 by advance reservation. Call Carol McCreary 641-464-0811.

 

Judge Lewis Recreational Park

Features a large swimming pool, lighted tennis and baseball diamond, sand volley ball court, horseshoe courts, bike and hiking trail and picnic area. Our new swimming pool and shelter house is under construction, hopefully ready by summer, 2013.

 

Poe Hollow Park & Ringgold Trailway

Two mile trailway begins at the Caboose, just a few blocks north of the Mount Ayr Inn on Highway 169 and ends at Poe Hollow Park with several shelter houses, a gazebo, a wooded picnic area and camping grounds.

 

Sun Valley Lake and Resort

Located at nearby Ellston, the Sun Valley Country Club with nine hole golf course is open to the public for golf, lunch, dinner and occasional dancing and live entertainment. Call 641-772-4380 for reservations.

 

Fife's Grove

Features a nicely wooded area with camping available, a pond for fishing, picnic area, playground area and a gazebo.
